Inspiring Big Kid Success With Huggies Pull-Ups

One would think that, with three children, the third time around approaching potty-training would be easier.  I suppose there is some merit to the idea that once you’ve been through the process a few times, you certainly know the signs of readiness to look for, and how to avoid some common pitfalls in the potty training process.  However, what it comes down to is each child’s individual personality and with anything in parenting – just when you think you’ve got it all figured out – the kid throws a metaphorical wrench into things just to keep you on your toes!  And so, I’m approaching potty training with my youngest, Everleigh, with the same hope and fear I did with the other two!

My oldest two kids, a boy and a girl, each took their sweet time potty training (which I realize was partly influenced by our parenting style).  They were both fully trained (day and night at the same time) shortly after they turned three.  Yes three.  I knew neither would be going to school in diapers and while it was really annoying and frustrating some days changing my child’s diaper when they could clearly tell me it was time to change their diaper, I gave them the time they needed.

Pull-Ups Product ShotEverleigh, my baby, has been the most determined of my three kids to grow up faster than she should.

Scooting at 4 months and crawling shortly before she was 6 months, she has always been determined to do things before I thought she should!  With potty training, I’m totally ok with that.  We’re still taking a pretty laid back approach but she is showing signs of readiness now at 22 months and has had several successful potty visits.

We have a potty available and have started transitioning Everleigh to using Huggies Pull-Ups Training Pants With Learning Designs so she can visually see the patterns fade when she’s wet and start associating the positives of staying dry.  Plus, they are super-easy to take off and put on and with an “I do it!” toddler, this is a huge help.

You don’t really need to wait for potty training to use Huggies Pull-Ups.  I’ve been using them since Everleigh was about 1 because they are perfect for quick changes at the swimming pol, beach, and even on road trips.  Now that we’re on the edge of potty training, they’re even more beneficial.

When I was training my oldest around 2006, there definitely wasn’t the added help of Apps!  Now, parents can download the Pull-Ups Big Kid App – available as a free download from Apple iTunes Store and Google Play for Android.

Features include:

- Fun games featuring Disney characters that are unlocked through stars collected as the child makes potty training progress
- Calls from kids’ favourite Disney characters help surprise and motivate toddlers to use the potty and keep trying
- Customizable potty timer to help parents remind their child when it’s time to go take a potty breaks

Plus, there are “special identifying markers” inside packages of Huggies Pull-Ups that you can scan with the Pull-Ups Big Kid App to activate the interactive Pull-Ups Big Kid 3D Celebration, where Disney characters including Rapunzel and Mickey come to life!

I love the customizable potty timer!  I know that taking a child to the potty at regular intervals is a great potty training strategy that works, but I often get distracted at home and we don’t go on-time like we should.  Yes, you can set the timer on the stove but what you do carry with you through the house – the stove or your phone?!  Makes sense right?

You can also download a First Flush Celebration Kit which includes printable badges, photo frames and more!

Did you hear about the Pull-Ups First Flush Moments Sweepstakes, hosted on the Pull-Ups Facebook page?
