Traveling with kids can be scary, and something I was anxious about the first time we took a vacation as a family of five. Of course, it wasn’t just a quick vacation to the west coast either – oh no, we went big with our first vacation including a cruise! I wondered how we’d ever survive, and looking back on it now it’s one of those experiences I’ll never forget. It was amazing, and I’m so glad we did it and since then we’ve continued to travel to new destinations as a family with little anxiety. It’s like jumping into a pool – you just have to do it and get adjusted to the cool water and then it’s happy swimming from that point on. Still, you’re always better off being prepared and the more prepared you are – the better your vacation will be.
To that end, Thomas Cook has developed a pretty unique program just for kids called the Thomas Cook Kids First program. Kids First is unique Kid Reviewed, Parent Approved program that offers video reviews of top destinations from a kid’s perspective, expert advice from knowledgeable Kids First travel specialists and exclusive partner offers.
This program is – to put it plainly – awesome. When booking a vacation for the family, it can be incredibly overwhelming trying to determine which resort or destination is child-friendly. I’m often left wondering if the term “child-friendly” is just a buzz word thrown in so a resort can sell you a week’s stay, or if they truly have programs that will engage, entertain and keep your kids happy on their holiday.
Scroll down on the Kids First page to the Family Friendly Resorts chart and see at a glance which resorts are great for families, have a kids club (!!!), baby club, or other great options. This makes it so much easier to narrow down your choices.
Now that you’ve narrowed down your choices, it’s time to book a trip! The Thomas Cook Kids First Program comes with a package when booked that includes fabulous items to help your kids plan for the perfect family vacation:
The Kids First Program package is an added $500 value that comes free with a Thomas Cook Kids First vacation. How awesome to have $100 in gift cards to spend plus little luxuries like free seat selection and a free airport lounge pass among others! I can tell you from experience that having a lounge pass with the family is priceless and will definitely come in handy if you’re like us and always have a connecting flight.
I’d use the $50 Kids First Visa Prepaid Card to get some sunny-destination clothes for the kids, the $25 Indigo gift card to get some books for my 8 year old (I wish I had time to read on vacations but alas, that’s just a dream!) and the $25 Shoppers Drug Mart gift card to get things like sunscreen, Gravol, travel sized shampoo/etc. I love how useful each of these gift cards are when packing for a vacation!
