SodaStream Giveaway!

While many fans are triumphant at the return of the NHL this past weekend, many too are looking forward to the big game on February 3rd. Super Bowl 2013 will take place in New Orleans while the rest of us watch from our living rooms (and perhaps a lucky few in a sports bar but let’s not think about them!)  Super Bowl parties are being planned and recipes of course are being determined.  For our last Super Bowl party, it was all about the food for me (when isn’t it?)

This year, instead of leaving a bunch of bottles of pop on the table, turn it up a notch and be the coolest host evah with a SodaStream!  What is a SodaStream?

Soda is simply water, fizz and flavour. With SodaStream’s home soda makers, you transform ordinary tap water into fresh, great-tasting soda by adding fizz (in the form of carbon dioxide from a SodaStream carbonator) and flavour (one of many tempting sodamix syrups.)

So, no need to buy a bunch of bottles of soda – all you need is your own tap water with a SodaStream machine and you’re good to go. The SodaStream Starter Kits all come with a sample pack of syrups and you can buy bottles of SodaStream Syrups too! Each SodaStream Syrup bottle ($6.99)  is enough to make 12 liters of soda.   SodaStream keeps adding Soda Mixes to their line-up so there’s even more than there was just a few months ago when we first checked out a SodaStream!

This month, I had the opportunity to try out the new SodaStream Source machine, created by world-renowned designer and social entrepreneur Yves Behar.

If your kitchen and your decor calls for a more sophisticated look than say, the SodaStream Fizz, then the Source machine may be perfect for you!  Of course, the Source works like all SodaStream machines and creates an amazing array of drink flavors including cocktails (Cosmopolitan, Margarita, or Mojito Mix anyone?)  It just looks a little more sleek and modern.  But don’t worry, you can still make a fizzy Root Beer Soda in it – we won’t tell.  While searching for Soda Mix I saw that Kool Aid flavors are coming soon too!

Of course, the SodaStream Fizz is available as well (actually, there are several different varieties of SodaStream machines so you can find the perfect machine in the perfect color to suit your style).  I love the soda-shop look of the Fizz machines. The Fizz Starter Kit is $199.99 CDN and the Source Starter Kit is $149.99 CDN.

It’s definitely worth mentioning here that since you don’t need to plug in these machines they’re completely portable so you can take them to your friend’s house for a get-together like we did this weekend, to the cottage, or even just a backyard BBQ.  Wherever you use your SodaStream machine, it’s sure to get some attention (something so pretty should!) and it’s a fun item to have on hand for weekend get-togethers, the big Super Bowl party, or for your own American Idol viewing party of 2 at home (I won’t tell).
