Ketchup potato chips are something my US friends think that us Canadians are totally weird for liking. It’s the oddest thing to me that American’s don’t have ketchup chips since they are my favorite flavor of all! Now, the ketchup chip love gets even more regional with the addition of special Lays Old Fashioned Ketchup chips just for Western Canada! These, along with the Lays Wavy Smoky BBQ, are only available in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Being a ketchup chip fan, I obviously like that flavor more. If you grin when you reach into a bag of ketchup chips and pull out a bright red one, covered in flavor, you will positively glow eating the Lays Wavy Old Fashioned Ketchup chips – they’re super tasty and packed full of ketchup goodness! My kids prefer the Smoky BBQ ones which is fine by me – more Old Fashioned Ketchup for mom.
ooh just in time for lake season!!! i remember going on our honeymoon to disney and craving ketchup chips and they were nowhere to be found. i can’t believe in 11 years they haven’t caught on.
When I was in Europe this past fall, they have even weirder varieties…Olive Oil and Oregano were a couple that I can remember…I tasted the Oregano ones…I think you have to acquire a taste for them…lol 🙂

I have eaten a “few” of these since discovering them. I stocked up on Sobeys 10% Tuesday in April and resisted restocking again in May.
