TRESemmé® Split Remedy™ Line

What’s your split end remedy? If you’re like most of us, the remedy most of us use is a trip to the salon for a hair cut. Nothing beats that just-from-the-salon fresh feeling, and it certainly puts a little bounce in your step walking out of a salon, don’t you think?  I wish I could be like those girls in the commercials – walking as my hair flows beautifully, shiny, not a split end in sight every single day.

The reality, though, is that my split end remedy of a salon visit only lasts a short while and in no time at all my hair can be a testament to the damage I inflict on it.  If I ran to the salon for a hair cut every time I needed a fix, I’d have a pretty cute pixie cut right about now!

So what’s a girl to do?  Give up my hair color and flat iron?  Never!  Truth be told my natural color is a flat mousy brown and I have such a kink wave in my hair that it looks like I have bed-head daily if I don’t style it.  So, I have to find balance; a way to continue styling my hair the way I do while keeping split ends and damage at bay without a salon bill every second week.

It’s no secret that the products you use in your hair can substantially cut down on your salon trips, but the problem is finding a product that works while not costing a fortune.  When I was recently asked to check out the TRESemmé® Split Remedy™ line of products, I was absolutely interested.  An entire line of products just to repair and then prevent split ends – hold me back!

The TRESemmé® Split Remedy™ line is actually 5 different products, each working to repair and prevent split ends in a really intriguing way.

Here’s the part where I get all scientific on you.  Basically, the Reconstructing Complex utilizes both negatively and positively charged polymers inside a gel body.  Following me so far?  Split ends are negatively charged (who knew?) and the positive charges of that gel body actually attach to the negative charges inside that split end and then contract when you dry your hair, leaving you with a smooth look at the end.  Told you it was intriguing!

Science aside, the question is, does the product work and do what it’s supposed to?  That’s where I came in, noble blogger that I am, willing to put my tresses to the TRESemmé® Split Remedy™ test!  The products within this line include: Split Remedy Shampoo, Split Remedy Conditioner, Leave-In Conditioning Spray, Leave-In Split End Conditioning Treatment and Split End Sealing Serum.

Basically, the TRESemmé® Split Remedy™ Shampoo and Conditioner are your main alleys that you should use every day. Then, it’s up to you which of the 3 leave-in treatments you want to use to combat split ends and help prevent them. You could also use more than one leave-in treatment as well because they all work together to repair up to 80% of split ends in just 3 uses..  You should use the product at least 3 times before measuring results of split end repair and then continue regular use after that to prevent split ends.

I used the TRESemmé® Split Remedy™ Shampoo and Conditioner with the Leave-In Conditioning Spray on my first use and was very happy with how maneagable my wet hair was to comb afterwards.  I have really thick hair and when you add split ends and styling damage to that, wet hair can be a huge task to comb out.  It turns out that the TRESemmé® Split Remedy™ Leave-In Conditioning Spray reduces friction between the hair stands and that’s why my hair is easier to comb out.  The Split End Sealing Serum is a great product for use before styling.  You apply it to damp or towel dried hair and then style as usual – I consider this a bit of armor for my hair every day.

Finally, the Leave-In Split End Conditioning Treatment is a product that you can apply on towel dried hair and also one that you can carry in your bag for extra frizz control throughout the day.  I love the smell of TRESemmé® Split Remedy™ products so dispensing a pump or two of the Leave-In Split End Conditioning Treatment in my hair mid-day is nice.

After trying out the products, I don’t think you can go wrong with this product line.  The price is fabulous, you can find TRESemmé® Split Remedy™ products at your local retailer, and using them can help you go longer between appointments with your stylist, especially those “I need a bit more than a trim to take care of my split ends, thanks,” kind of appointments.  After all, the pixie-short haircut only looks good on a very select number of people (my guess is, 5.)
