Honeywell True Hepa Air Purifier

When we moved into our house 2 years ago (this week!) I was so excited to buy new furniture.  I went dark!  Dark black leather couch, dark wood end tables and tv stand, dark dining room table and chairs.  I knew that darker furniture showed dust more but comforted myself knowing that we had hardwood flooring and therefore no carpet to create a dust problem.  Boy was I wrong.

Eliminating carpet is one way to reduce dust in your home but it certainly isn’t the only way, and so, I had to dust my stupid dark furniture every second day to keep it dust free which was making me a little nutty.

When I was presented with the opportunity to review a Honeywell True Help Air Purifier in a gorgeous  black tower design, I was on board immediately!  With an asthmatic son and my dark-furniture-dust-issue I was curious to see if this could make a difference in the air quality in our home.  The visual difference would be in the dust – the health difference in my son (which, admittedly, is more of subjective result).

The Honeywell True Hepa Air Purifier is the #1 allergist recommended air purifier.  It captures 99.97% of microscopic airborne allergens, including pollen and mold spores, from the air that passes through its filters – and an added bonus is it helps reduce common household odors too. It’s also ENERGY STAR® rated so running it 24/7 isn’t a load on your energy bills.

We have been using it in our home for a month now, admittedly not constantly every single day as we should but for the past 7 days it has been on consistently.  I run it in the corner of my living room on the lowest setting so it’s just a gentle fan sound and barely noticeable.  Plus, since it’s not a bright white obtrusive unit, it blends in really well with my furniture.

Dust is reduced when using this product consistently.  I can say this after comparing a week without it on, to a week with it on (both weeks the windows were kept closed).  Does it eliminate dust completely?  No, though if it did I’d have to invest in the company with a million dollar concept like that!  What it does is help reduce the amount of airborne allergens, as stated, which includes all that dust.

Looking for other ways to help the air quality in your home? Here are a few from veteran contractor and home expert Danny Lipford:

Gotcha!
Mold can hide out throughout the home. If your home smells moldy look at dry wall, wallpaper, or paneling, the top side of ceiling tiles, the underside of carpets, inside walls around pipes, inside ductwork, and in roof materials above ceiling tiles. But consider the help of a professional when investigating so not to release spores and make the problem worse!

Clean Air Tip
Have your heating ducts cleaned before you turn on your heat for the first time. Dust can easily accumulate in heating ducts and be forced out into the air in your home.

Spring Cleaning

When cleaning your air purifier, use only a dry cloth to wipe the external surfaces of the air purifier. Do not use water, wax polish, or any chemical solution as it could damage the unit.

Improve the “ahh” factor in your home
Even if you keep a clean house, dust has a way of finding its way into the home and collecting as soon as you wipe your furniture and countertops clean. Help reduce airborne dust particles with an air purifier. All Honeywell air purifiers are proven effective at capturing up to 95% or more of the dust that passes through their filters.

Home Sweet Home
When the weather permits and pollen counts are low, open up the windows and doors in your home to let fresh air in and allow it to circulate in the room. On days when pollen is high, try using an air purifier to help capture airborne pollutants and allergens, such as dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke and mold spores.
