For me, awards season is hard to resist. I try, I really do, because wow when those 3-4 hours are over I realize how an entire evening is now over but I just can’t say no! The dresses, the drama (lama!), and if I’m going to be perfectly honest…the food.
Though not awards-season related, I had guests over to watch the Superbowl last month (which for me was all about Madonna’s halftime show) and I loved making party appetizers (and sharing what guests brought too). It’s a great excuse to make delicious food, and I gave chicken wings a whirl with varied results (note, honey in honey garlic wings burns easily, gah!)
On February 26th, all the celebs will be out in their Oscar-best and I’ll be happily seated on the couch, pj pants most likely the attire of choice, watching the show. Since we’re not having an Oscar party, my snack food will probably involve my recipe for Corn Salsa or maybe my favorite Easy Salad Rolls!

I’m crossing my fingers for The Help to take best picture this year, and Viola Davis for her beautiful, poignant and strong role in the same!
I don’t get out to the movies as much as I’d like to, but I’m hoping that will change. I’m trying to do more “me” things in 2012 even when there’s laundry waiting, kids that have activities, and meals to be made. Somehow, I’m going to fit that me time in there, and catching a movie is one way to do it.

So – do you watch the Academy Awards, Grammy’s, or any of the (dozens!) of others award shows? My favorite is actually the AMA’s (American Music Awards) – I used to tape them with my trusty VCR every year and can plainly recall when NKOTB was on in their American-flag leather jackets…’memba that, anyone??

I watch the Academy Awards and have for many years, usually in my pj’s. It’s fun to watch the movie stars walk the red carpet and see them rewarded for making the movies that I enjoy. Sometimes when I see an outfit, I think “that is so beautiful” and sometimes…. “what were they thinking?”
