It’s no secret that I’m a coffee fanatic. I can’t function, it seems without a nice hot cup of java to start my day. I can get through the day without it, if I have to, but it won’t be pretty!
I was a pretty big fan of that popular Canadian coffee chain for years and for the most part still am except that when I go there, I don’t purchase any other drinks except a basic coffee. Why? Because a lot of their other hot drinks are made with powder and I don’t get my coffee-fix that I went for in the first place! Powder. Blah. I see they’ve recently switched and are adding more real-espresso drinks into their product line, but they’ve now lost me to McDonald’s when it comes to specialty coffee!
I became a fan of McDonald’s coffee a year or more ago when the company ran their first free coffee promotion in order to get people to give their coffee a try. Brilliant move on their part because I tried it, as did many people I know, and discovered that it was really, really good! This was well before I was a McDonald’s All-Access Mom – they already had me at coffee!
Now, with the introduction of McCafe – they have me literally thinking about a McCafe Mocha in the middle of the afternoon – yep, I’ve fallen.
Just like a drink made at a coffee-house, McCafe drinks are made with freshly ground espresso beans and steamed milk. No pretend-drinks made with powder here!
On my last McDonald’s All-Access Moms trip we had the opportunity to go behind the counter at a busy Toronto McDonald’s restaurant and work various stations.
By far everyone’s favorite was the McCafe station! I got to make McCafe drinks for customers myself and saw first hand that yes, real espresso beans are used and no powdered creations are used.
Now, I recommend it to friends and a few have made the switch as well – for a McCafe Mocha or Latte on the way to hockey or work instead of the usual coffee. Have you tried it?

I’ve Never tried Mccafe anything But I’d love to try it. I also have to say your review of their beef products was an eye opener in a good way. I still have these doubts in my head about what they do but I have a little more faith that they are up and up.
