HEXBUG Original

Another product that I got an up close look at while at BlogHer 11 in San Diego this year was the line of HEXBUG products currently available.  The creators of HEXBUG said they developed HEXBUG to give children a positive experience with robotics from a young age.  Combining robotics and bugs is a home run, so I really think this company got it right.

The first time Elijah played with a HEXBUG, he literally played with it for hours!  He was about 5 at the time and it was a HEXBUG Nano.  Now, 2 years later, there are several other HEXBUG products available, including the cool (but creepy for me) HEXBUG Spider, which I knew Elijah would be all over after I saw it at BlogHer.

With his first HEXBUG, Elijah created an obstacle course using boxes from the pantry.  HEXBUG toys respond to obstacles and loud noises by changing directions (something little kids just love, loud clapping anyone?) so a cracker-box obstacle course was perfect for play time.  Now, however, you can purchase HEXBUG Nano Habitats which are perfect for playing with HEXBUGS (and look a lot cooler than pantry items too).

Customers can purchase HEXBUG products directly on the site or at a store in your area (I even found them at the airport when traveling this summer!)

Ready to dive into a HEXBUG collection?  1 of my readers is going to win a HEXBUG Original!  To enter to win, just leave me a comment here telling me who you’d like to win this for this holiday season.
