Oh how I loved my Cabbage Patch Dolls in the 80′s. My mom was one of those moms, dealing with the crowds, waiting outside The Bay for the latest shipment so she could get one for me when I was 5. I ended up having five total I think (only child syndrome, in a way) but I still remember and can still smell my first two Cabbage Patch Kids. Theo and Jodette. I kept them for years and only lost them in a move about 5 years ago (don’t get me started on the integrity of the staff of moving companies!)
This year, Cabbage Patch Kids has a new line of very updated dolls. CPK Fashionalities are 14″ dolls with silky hair (I miss the yarn!) that are modern in every way. You may find a skater, preppy kid, or total girly-girl among the group, all wearing updated and oh-so-fashionable clothing. I was sent a Fashionalities doll by Jakks Pacific and can’t wait for Nevaeh (4 later this month) to open it this Christmas. I hope she develops a love for these dolls just like I had as a little girl.
With over 124 million Cabbage Patch Kids adopted to date, this is such a special way to share something from our own childhood with our kids (hey, boys love Cabbage Patch Kids too!)
