The lazy days of summer are over and now that school is back in and activities have started, our household is in a rushed state most mornings and after-school times. It’s only in the evenings when we have the time to truly take a breath and have some calm in the household (ur…maybe.)
It’s easy to get caught up in the frenzy and forget that kids simply need to be kids. It’s something I have to remind myself of every day (and my husband too!) especially when my 3 year old has hit my limit with her whining or my 7 year old has a passionate argument on why unloading the dishwasher should not be a daily chore for him.

As a Kinder Mom, I was asked to share how we make time to play every day. I can’t say I came up with examples easily because I’m a perfect mom that pointedly makes time for play every day. Most moments happen in the day-to-day activities at home. After reading my writing assignment, I made a conscious effort, though, to think of ways we could make time to play daily.
Actually, one family moment we seem to have nightly, after dinner, is watching baby Everleigh (5 months) at play. She has learned to crawl so the older kids enjoy playing with her on the floor and most recently we put together our Jolly Jumper which is great fun when the older kids encourage her to jump and she tries to pull their hair (well, funny for mom and dad watching anyway…)
