McDonald’s All-Access Moms 1st Trip Coming Up!

Today, I am frantically trying to get packed for my 1st Mc Donald’s All-Access Moms trip.  As 1 of 3 Canadian bloggers chosen for this program, we will be taking 4 trips before the end of this year to various locations across Canada (and in this case, the US) to learn about the company.

Our first trip takes us to Toronto for part of the week where we will meet with McDonald’s Canada Chief Executive Officer of Operations and then go behind-the-counter at a Toronto McDonald’s location observing the staff and learning about the day to day operation of a typical McDonald’s restaurant.

In the second part of the week, we will visit McDonald’s Global Headquarters in Chicago and meet Chef Dan.

We’ll be in the Test Kitchen learning about the evolution of the McDonald’s menu and this is where we will get to really get in depth discussion the ingredients and preparation of McDonald’s food.

Throughout the last few days, I have written down the questions you’ve asked me on my blog, Twitter, and via email.  The majority of the questions I’ve received have been about product ingredients, but Canadians are also curious about food allergens (why can’t some menu items be made without wheat or milk ingredients, for example) and even about the cleanliness of the McDonald’s indoor playgrounds.

This is your opportunity!  If you’ve ever wondered, “What’s really IN those chicken nuggets?” or “What policies does McDonald’s have about….” now is your opportunity to find out.  Keep those questions coming, now and before future trips.  I have a feeling once we start getting the ball rolling and asking questions, follow-up questions will come up too.  Use me and the other McDonald’s All-Access Moms as your voice – we’re here to ask the questions for you!

    • I had heard that when my daughter had a dairy allergy and discovered they don’t in Canada (http://www.mcdonalds.ca/pdfs/IngredientFactsEN.pdf) and she was able to eat them safely.

I think it could be another piece of misinformation out there about McDonalds BUT I will find out for sure this week – allergens in food is an important issue for me! Thanks Katrina!

  • my father has a deathly allergy to shellfish. He has always been ok with the fish filet, but recently he had one and it made his eyes burn/itch and his tickly cough started. He was reacting to SOMETHING in the sandwich. Strange! (And NO, he had not been in any contact with any one or anything else that would have set him off) SO, what are they made of? Did they recently add something new to the patty? Maybe there should be a warning on the wrapper?
    Thank you

    • Several people have mentioned the pizza, and it’s one of my missed favorites too! I don’t remember poutine?! I don’t think I ever tried it there.

  • Good luck! Welcome to Toronto!

It’s just too bad that they have to advertise the kids menu with toys. My 4 year old has asked to go to McDonalds a few times, but then would never really eat much. I asked her why do you ask to eat dinner at McDonald’s she said “because of the toys” Wish there was more healthy options for the little ones. OR not use toys in their advertising.

Good luck, hope you find all the answers you are looking for.
