Elijah is now officially on summer vacation, having just completed first grade. On Tuesday we attended his school awards day, and my heart swelled…SWELLED with pride at my first born. Elijah received an award for Art in the K-2 grade range. His artwork was professionally framed and will hang in the school halls of his elementary school until he graduates high school, at which point it will be returned to him. How cool is that? So, wherever we live at the time, I will contact the elementary and have it shipped to us as a special surprise that day.
Elijah also received the Highest Average Award for grade one. My boy, who knew his alphabet before age 2 (yes, really) has absolutely loved his learning experience so far. Seeing him receive this award today took me right back to the summer of 2006 – my little guy in nothing but a diaper shouting out the letters on his flash cards or on the covers of his favorite books.
Maybe this isn’t a Wordless Wednesday post. Elijah inherited his love of words from his mother, evidently.

What a fabulous thing for both you and Elijah. I remember when my son (in middle school) had his artwork chosen to be framed and hung in the Mayor’s office, I was so proud. So I know how you are feeling…. go right ahead a brag away, you both deserve it! WTG!!
