Lamaze Tummy Time Air

Parents know tummy time is important – babies need to develop their neck and shoulder muscles and putting a baby on his stomach, in a sense, forces him to develop the muscles.  I remember dreading tummy time with my first baby because he always cried – he pretty much hated it and I thought I was doing something wrong!  The truth is that most babies don’t particularly like tummy time the first few times you try it, but as they grow and as their muscles develop they actually start to enjoy this new point of view.  Side note, it’s also a good way to help avoid flat spots on baby’s head from laying on his back most of the time too!

Babies need stimulating things to look at while practicing tummy time, whether that’s interesting toys, a mirror, or even a patterned blanket.  It also helps to prop them a little bit to help them look around.  The Tummy Time Air mat is perfect for tummy time by providing all these things.  The Tummy Time Air provides babies with two scenes to look at which is great for when baby gets fussy – simply move them to the other side and they are surprised by the new colors to focus on.  The cow-patterned mesh gives baby great support when laying on her tummy and also gives gives them a great focal point when laying on their back (Everleigh loves staring at it).

The crinkle-corn keeps Everleigh interested too, though she hasn’t paid much attention to the tractor shaped teether just yet.  She loves the sun mirror (total girl!) and I love that she will lay there for awhile without crying while she develops her neck and shoulder muscles.  The mat is washable which is great since tummy time seems to have a way of encouraging spit up!
