It’s hard to escape the toddler years with a little boy in the house without having at least one train set becoming the center of his world.  In fact, several of my mom friends little guys can tell you the names of several characters from various tv shows about trains, all things they learned from a 3 year old.

When Elijah was a little guy, he definitely liked his trains but also had an equal love of cars and dinosaurs so I didn’t get a train education to the extent of some moms.  Still, even today at (almost) 7, Elijah will happily play trains with his little sister.

When big brother is at school, Nevaeh will sometimes leave her dolls to play trains for awhile, though it’s not nearly as fun for her without a friend to interact with.  This is where the new Chuggington Interactive Railway Engine is really innovative.

Using SmartTalk technology, the Chuggington engines actually recognize and interact with one another and with specific train stops along the track!  Now, little ones can use their imagination and have an interactive toy as well.

We we sent the Chuggington Wash & Fuel Set from Learning Curve Brands to check out.  Since my son, the biggest train fan in the house, is a little too old for this set now, I asked my cousin’s little guy to help us out with this review.  He’s turning 2 next month and loves his trains!  His mama had to set it up at 6am the morning after I shared it with them because he insisted!  Thankfully, set up was easy and he was playing on his own in no time, giving mom a much needed break (hooray!)

It’s evident the little guy loves the train set, and it’s worth noting that you can of course use pieces from other Chuggington sets with this one as well as seen in the photo above (this set comes with the Brewster engine only).  With a SRP of $39.99, this set is a great starter set that will keep kids interested, or a great add-on to existing sets.  Find it exclusively at Toys R Us stores in US and Canada!
