Infantino Fold & Go Bouncer

Moms of infants know that a bouncer (bouncy chair, bouncy-thingy…whatever you call it) is an essential baby item. If you don’t know this, then put your baby in one for any amount of time, watch them nod off or happily snuggle in to observe the world, and you’ll be convinced in minutes. Of course, there are as many variations of the baby bouncer out there as there are in other baby products and most work well for most babies. I’ve learned, however, that there are certain features you should look for on every chair and there are some bouncers that work better for certain babies more than others. For example, my daughter didn’t like the activity bar on the chair we had for her as an infant because there was just too much going on – it was way too over-stimulating for her whereas for other babies it may be a huge perk.

There are certain things I’m looking for in a bouncer now, as a mom a third time around. First, it needs to be cozy. My first chair for Elijah (now 6) was as basic as they get and didn’t have any extra cozy cushioning or anything. When he kicked I winced because his little heels would actually hit the metal bar under the material.

Second, the chair needs an activity bar but the less lights and sounds the better – my own kids were happy with something to look at and reach for but too much stimulation and they were unhappy.

Third, there definitely needs to be a calming vibration or bouncing mode (both if you are really lucky!) While some chairs give mom the ability to bounce them using her foot, the whole point of the bouncer chair is to give mom a break and sitting there moving it with her foot is not very relaxing for mom! In addition to the vibration or bouncing mode, having soothing sounds as well as a great bonus – babies love them (and moms love anything babies love).

These were the main features I was looking for in a bouncer, honestly because I didn’t realize there was one key feature that a bouncer could have to make my life easier, but I didn’t know it existed! When we travelled to visit family when our kids were infants, we always took the bouncer with us. The thing is, they’re awkward to pack because of their angled shape. The best we could do was to lay it ontop of everything else or pack things strategically around it, all the whole hoping nothing got broken in the process.

Who knew that there was actually a bouncer that not only encompasses all the features I explained above, but also folds flat like the photo above!
