Footloose Games Presents Munchies’ Lunch

Footloose Games, based here in Canada in Kitchener-Waterloo, has just finished crafting their first PC-based game called Munchies’ Lunch.

Munchies’ Lunch is a puzzle-adventure game that’s quick to learn, challenging, and intellectually stimulating.

The game centers around a family, with mom being the hero of the game, and the object is to lead your family away from the dangerous Hungries who are invading your forest dwelling. Travel the world to find safety in the far-away jungles. Gather fruits for your kids as Mrs. Munchie and avoid fights with the devious creatures that will get in your way.

The website gives you the opportunity to download a demo of the game itself to try it out before purchasing (by the way, the purchase price is just $5.99 which is awesome).  I downloaded the demo to see what the game was really all about.

The game has info on how to play which I quickly read to get the general idea, and then jumped right in.  I used my 4 arrow keys to move and figured out the gist of it within the first level.  It reminds me a little bit of old school Pac Man in that you have to move carefully to avoid the Hungrys touching you.  I made it to the 4th level before touching one (whoops!) but then on my next attempt figured out what I needed to do to avoid them and go forward to the next level.

The nice thing about this game is that it’s something that mom can do when she needs to zone out for a little bit, but it’s also something my 6 year old could play with me and even attempt on his own as well.  Kudos to Footloose Games for their family-friendly first game release (and the fact that they’re Canadian makes them extra cool, just sayin’).
